The exact date of striking is not known, but this could have been from the late 1700's to the late 1800's. PCGS has listed the date as (c. 1880), but there does not appear to be any definitive information to confirm their listing. We do know that this piece is unique; this same example was sold as an original striking in the 1904 Adolph Hess sale, and also in the Galerie des Monnaies/Spink auction of 1977. . Superb prooflike choice mint state.
