Extremely rare in gold. At the beginning of the 1860s the medalist Ferdinand Korn, who lived in Mainz, commissioned the Frankfurt mint to strike this "double thaler coin" to recommend to the Emperor. The Senate of the city promptly forbade this undertaking, resulting in a very scarce issue.
