Struck in homage of the city of Dresden on the commencement of Friedrich August III's autocratic rule, April 4th 1769. Hygieia was worshipped by ancient Greeks and Romans as the goddess of good health, cleanliness, and sanitation. Her name is the source of the word, "hygiene".
