Armored bust of Maurice, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of the United Provinces, facing ¾ right, wearing a ruff and broad scarf, outer border of ornamental shields with the Arms of the seven United Provinces and their names, at the top, two hands, clasped and tied by a ribbon, hold a sheaf of seven arrows / Large oval shield with the Arms of Maurice, Order of the Garter around, within wreath of two laurel branches symbolizing the two victories, Ie Maintiendray ("I will maintain") on a cartouche below, 16 Cum Privil 24 in exergue. On the Dutch Naval Victories off Peru and Brazil. This medal seems to be a strange hybrid of minting methods; struck on a cast planchet (see: https://coins.ha.com/itm/betts-medals/betts-22-1624-dutch-naval-victories-silver-xf/a/1181-3571.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 "The edge of this specimen bears an incused groove that superficially resembles a seam, but the planchet is solid with proper "ring" and overall weight.").
