1082569 | GREEK. THRACE. Mesambria. Struck circa 250-200 BC. AV Stater. NGC AU (About Uncirculated) Strike 5/5 Surface 3/5 Die shift, Brushed. 8.45gm. Helmeted head of Athena, right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ/ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched right hand and stylis cradled in her left; Corinthian helmet to lower left. Price 974; Müller 431 variant.

The stylis held by Nike is a decorative pole taken from the stern of ancient ships. This may symbolize Alexander III, the Great's lengthy seige and conquest of Tyre in 332 BC. Very minor surfaces marks account for the "brushed designation"; we disagree with this assessment.
