While struck during the reign of Ranavalona III, Jean Lecompte states in Monnaies et Jetons des Colonies Françaises, (pg. 437), that this portrait is in fact Queen Rasoherina (based on an 1865 painting currently housed in the Lapan' Andafiavaratra, Madagascar).
