In 1994 on a farm in the Pontivy region of France a hoard of 117 gold coins was accidentally discovered in the ground of an outbuilding. They were located in front of the hearth of a fireplace dating from the 14th century. This discovery was declared then studied by the Cabinet of medals of the National Library of France (publication in Monetary Treasures s XXII ) .
