Previously only known to have been struck in silver and bronze; at least one gold specimen was struck for the recipient—Count Antoine Roy, Minister of Finance (November 1819 to December 1821)—and was almost certainly presented to him during his visit to the Paris Mint in December 1820. Preserved within the family—by his daughter Alexandrine Roy (1799–1854), who was married to Auguste Frédéric de Talhoüet (1788–1842)—this precious specimen was utilized during the wedding of their son, Auguste de Talhoüet-Roy (1819–1884), to Léonie Honnorez (1829–1892), celebrated in Ris-Orangis on August 2, 1847.
